Christmas bells
Christmas is in the air! It’s the season of thick mufflers, coffee and high boots. It’s the time of the year when Santa Claus comes to town on a reindeer sleigh from the snow covered mountains up north.

Delhi’s winter has slowly crawled back from the North. It’s a pity for many Christmas enthusiasts not to be able to see snow flakes falling on rooftops and eaves and down the curb. But Delhi has its own winter treat in the form of early morning fogs. If Santa doesn’t have snow to steady his sleigh, he sure has the thick morning fog to do that.

The big City Malls are all opulently adorned with giant Christmas trees, pine cone daubed writhes, socks and red hats! Boney M’s popular numbers like Mary’s Boy Child and Jingle Bells are played non stop and makes you nostalgic. The air is festive. It’s time to wear you good smelling sweaters and jackets and relish the season before it melts like snow in the April sun. Ring some bells and Jingle all the way!

We Visited some Malls in west Delhi to see how they are gearing up for Christmas and also to get a feel of Christmas. Elsewhere nothing much about Delhi conveys anything about the advent of Christmas.

Why Visit Malls: No one splurge on decorations and grandness like the Malls.

We decided to start from the District Center Janakpuri. It is very close to the Janakpuri West metro station.

After looking for any sign of Christmas around the District Center, this was the first Christmas tree I saw. Though it was not the grandest it was special.
Everyone loves basking in the pleasant warmth of  winter morning sun. It is one ordinary  ordeals that makes Delhi's winter memorable. Here young office goers engrossed in talks and some sun bathing.
Small Christmas trees and toys put up for sale at the Archie's Shop in District Center. The shop is completely stuffed with Christmas toys, gifts and cards. A visit to such shops can pretty much wake you up from your slumber if you haven't felt the joyous season in the air.
Christmas is always about family sharing a meal, giving gifts to each other or sharing moment with each other. The ideal and joyous season can be a good time for some family bonding.
Today, I'm just following the metro route. My next after District center Janakpuri will be the Pacific Mall, just walking distance from the Subhash Nagar Metro Station (In the Pic).
The Pacific's Mall was the most ornamented of all the Malls visited. Every nook and corner of the Mall is decorated with Writhes, stars, reindeer etc.
The giant Christmas tree inside the Pacific Mall exudes life and the spirit of Christmas. Can  Malls get any  better?  This mall has some big brands to its name.
When Santa Claus come to town all the kids sit up and take notice. As a kid we were all made to believe that  Santa Claus was real and it was beautiful to think that there was someone as mystic and as kind as him. Looking at these kids all perked up with excitement , we relived our childhood. The Mall authorities charge 50 Rs for a ticket to get a photo taken with Santa. Worth for the memory! Santa Claus comes only after 3 pm.
My next stop is City Square, just a stone's throw distance from the Rajouri Garden. West Gate Mall and TDI Mall are two other malls in the vicinity. They are all within walking range.
They do everything to get it right. Malls attracts thousands of people during Christmas. People just come here to get a feel of Christmas or get a photo taken to remind that he/she had spent the Christmas well.
Warm Christmas wishes on the doors and windows of different shops are uncommon.  The shop owners do everything to brighten up and attract as much customers to their shops.
For cheaper sweaters and all kinds of Winter wears for all ages and both sexes,Max at the West Gate Mall is a good place. Don't forget the Big Bazaar too!
Christmas like most festival is brief. It only once in a year that one gets to see the Santa Claus or sing Carol songs.
Snow flakes at the TDI Mall. Shoppers stop at this mall has good range of Winter wears. You can get almost all the big brands here.

If you haven't started adorning your homes with Christmas decor, it high time to start doing so. A visit to the Malls will also give you a good idea of how to put up a good Christmas tree. Almost all the malls sell gift items and Christmas decor too.
Unwind the day nice cup of green tea.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance!
